Visakhapatnam is the capital city for the Indian state Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the biggest commercial, economical, cultural and education centre for southeast coast of India. Total area coverage is around 681.96 km as Metropolitan and the overall population is around 20,91,811 and ranks 17th in India. Telugu is the major language spoken in Visakhapatnam and English takes 2nd position. Some people represent Visakhapatnam as “Vizag”, “City of destiny” and many others as well. National and international Information Technology and Banking firms have opened offices recently in the city. The Andhra Pradesh government provided infrastructure and land for these companies to set up their development centres in the city's outskirts. The government has established an IT special economic zone with Incubation centre in the Rushikonda Hills in Visakhapatnam.

Apart from these English newspapers like The Hindu, The Times of India, Deccan Chronicle & The New Indian Express are also sold in the city.
